Annual Engineering Compliance Seminar Highlights Important Standard Changes for 2011 Model Year, December 7-9 in Nashville

CHICAGO – To stay current with the latest changes associated with American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) standards, boatbuilders are encouraged to attend the 2009 Engineering Compliance Seminar, part of the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s (NMMA) Certification program.

The seminar will be held December 7-9 at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel in Nashville and highlights important changes to existing ABYC standards required for compliance with the NMMA Boat & Yacht Certification program for Model Year 2011 products. Special ‘early bird’ discounts are available for those who register for the event by November 1.

The Engineering Compliance Seminar will address all applicable standards updates individually, so boatbuilders are keenly aware of the differences and can make the necessary adjustments as they begin manufacturing plans for the upcoming model year. Changes to standards for electrical and fuel systems will be important areas highlighted in the program.

“For today’s manufacturers facing ever-changing standards and regulations, this seminar is a critical part of the boatbuilding process to ensure compliance with all ABYC standards,” explains Robert Newsome, NMMA director of engineering standards. “There is no other forum that brings together all the necessary industry experts in a single place to discuss these changes, which is why the annual NMMA Engineering Compliance Seminar is a must-attend event for builders.”

Seminar attendees have the unique opportunity to discuss current and contemporary certification issues with other boatbuilders, quality control engineers, NMMA Certification inspectors, ABYC staff and the U.S. Coast Guard. All seminar topics are taught by trained industry professionals with specific, in-depth knowledge of various boatbuilding methods and materials. NMMA’s Engineering Standards staff will also be available during the three-day event to answer manufacturer questions regarding the NMMA Boat & Yacht Certification process.
